While each crisis is unique, having the ability to react with historic data could prove to be powerful. John Hurst, PharmD, BCIDP and Senior Director of Antimicrobial Stewardship at bioMérieux, shared his personal experience observing how the COVID-19 pandemic impacted typical reporting metrics in unanticipated ways. Hurst shared with THEF, an independent chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives, his suggestions for adjusting measurement strategies to better account for the dramatic shifts in the clinical landscape.
The importance of robust data and analytics to predict and plan for current and future public health concerns, particularly the continued threat of antimicrobial resistance, has only become more evident during the COVID-19 Era.
